- After receiving her MFA from the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC, Allison started her career at MGM, followed by Simon Kinberg's production company, and most recently served as an executive at Color Force, where she worked on projects like Crazy Rich Asians and the American Crime Story series.
- The Peter Stark Producing Program Master of Fine Arts. The Peter Stark Producing Program is an innovative two-year (four semester) full-time graduate program designed to prepare a select group of highly motivated students for careers as independent film and television producers or as executives in motion picture and television companies.
Dara Resnik graduated the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC in 2003, and attached Amanda Bynes to her Peter Stark thesis script, Sydney White, which sold to Universal and Morgan Creek, who released the movie in 2007. Her feature writing credits include 2008’s Legally Blondes, a made-for-DVD spin-off of the MGM Legally Blonde franchise, as well as several projects still in development. She has spent a decade writing and producing television on Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Pushing Daisies, Mistresses, Castle, Jane the Virgin, Shooter, and Amazon’s upcoming I Love Dick from Jill Soloway. Her pilot, Lethal, is in development at Universal Cable Productions (UCP).

Due to the rapidly developing COVID-19 situation, students will participate in internships remotely and classes will be conducted via Zoom in order to protect the health and safety of our community and visiting students.
The Creative Producing track lets college students study the role of the creative producer or executive while participating in entertainment industry internships remotely with Los Angeles companies. In class, students study the history of the Hollywood studio system and gain a critical perspective of the contemporary industry. Vice city fast and furious game download. In this way, the Creative Producing track is the perfect combination of theory and practice and contributes to a well-rounded liberal arts education that will benefit a wide range of majors from the humanities.
Curriculum
This program carries 11 quarter units of UC credit. Students in this track are enrolled in the following classes:

Internships
Creative Producing students pursue remote internships in entertainment companies during the day. Once students are enrolled in the Creative Producing Summer Institute, they will receive an introductory email from the Summer Institute Internship Coordinator. Our coordinator will work closely with each student, helping them to prepare their cover letter, resume, and interview techniques as well as guide them in the internship search process. While our coordinator may have leads for certain internship opportunities, the onus is ultimately on the student to secure an internship. International students may pursue local internship opportunities. Students may complete a research paper instead of participating in an internship.
In the past, Summer Institute students have interned at companies such as NBCUniversal, United Talent Agency (UTA), MGM, Sony Pictures Studios, Mandalay Entertainment, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Wonderland Sound & Vision (Lethal Weapon TV Series, Supernatural), Comedy Central, Chernin Entertainment (Hidden Figures), DeLine Pictures (Ready Player One) and many others. Students are responsible for applying for their internships, and our internship coordinator advises and assists students throughout the process. However, because summer is a very competitive season for internships, early registration is required to ensure sufficient lead-time for the application process.

Symposium
In the exclusive Summer Institute Symposium, students from all tracks meet and listen to some of Hollywood’s most accomplished professionals. High-wattage guests have included Eric Heisserer (writer, Arrival); Steven Canals (creator and EP of Pose on FX); Jeff King (Executive Producer of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix); Agents from CAA, ICM, Paradigm, and UTA; Simon Kinberg (Writer/Producer, Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Martian); Zak Penn (Writer, Ready Player One); and many others.
Guest speakers will also visit the FTV 183A virtual classroom, including executives, coordinators, and more from companies like Sony, Paramount and Paramount TV, ABC Studios, and Netflix; agents and managers from top companies, and the professionals behind such shows as Modern Family, Marvel’s The Runaways Astah professional 7.1 for mac. , and more.

Hollywood & Networking
During the weekly Summer Institute Mixer, students network with alumni and students from other UCLA Film and Television Summer Institute tracks via Zoom.
Students will also participate in Professional Development workshops on How to Write Script Coverage and How to Pitch.
The How to Write Script Coverage workshop will feature guest speaker FRANKLIN LEONARD, founder and CEO of The Black List. This workshop is designed to cover all important aspects of how to read scripts and write effective coverage, while also discussing other ways to prepare for and maximize the internship experience. Mr. Leonard will share his expertise on the importance and uses of script coverage, how they relate to development, and the successful path of scripts to the screen. The Black List releases an annual survey of best unproduced screenplays every year, its website hosts an online marketplace, the company also hosts live staged script readings, screenwriter labs, and film culture publications. More than 400 scripts from the annual Black List survey have been produced as feature films earning 250 Academy Award nominations and 50 wins including four of the last twelve Best Pictures and ten of the last twenty-four screenwriting Oscars. Franklin has also worked in feature film development at Universal Pictures and the production companies of Will Smith, Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella, and Leonardo DiCaprio, among many other achievements.
The How to Pitch workshop will be taught by Guest Lecturer BOB LEVY, a former NBC network executive who served for six years as a development and current executive throughout NBC's 1990s 'Must-See TV' years and a producer who has helped launch some of the hottest CW shows (he executive produced Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars). In 2001, he opened the West Coast office of Alloy Entertainment, America's leading young-adult transmedia company, where he developed numerous drama and comedy pilots during a span of 10 years for ABC, NBC, Fox, the CW, the WB, ABC Family, MTV and Bravo. In 2014 Levy co-founded Citizen Media, a new production company that has several TV series in development at various networks and studios.

Alex Franklin: FTV 183A & 195 Introduction to Producing and Professional Internship
In 2018, Franklin was awarded the Eugen Weber Honors Program Distinguished Teaching Award for his work with the Honors Program at UCLA. He began his entertainment industry career in Hollywood at New Line Cinema where he assisted senior VP of production Richard Saperstein on the feature film Frequency and on the Denzel Washington film John Q. He then moved with Saperstein to Artisan Entertainment where he became a creative executive. At Artisan, he worked with Kevin Feige and the Marvel team developing numerous titles including The Punisher. He subsequently moved to Lionsgate Films where he worked with noted genre producer Peter Block on numerous horror and genre titles including the Saw franchise. After Lionsgate, Franklin worked at Dimension Films on the reboot of the Halloween franchise with director Rob Zombie, and on the Scary Movie franchise, which fulfilled a lifelong dream of working with director David Zucker (Airplane,The Naked Gun). His last film as a development executive was Youth in Revolt, directed by Miguel Arteta. Currently, Franklin works at at Zero Gravity Management overseeing their production department. Franklin is a graduate of Harvard University and has an M.F.A. from the USC Peter Stark Producing Program.

Lisa Vangellow: FTV 101A Guest Speaker Symposium
Vangellow is a Los Angeles based producer and executive with a penchant for character driven feature films, documentaries, and television. She holds an MFA in Producing from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television and a B.S. in Marketing
from the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU. Lisa has participated as a filmmaker in the Tribeca Film Institute's Documentary Story Lab and workshopped her documentary on the eccentric, multi-hyphenate, James Franco. As an independent producer, Lisa has various scripted and doc-series projects on her slate that she is excited to bring to audiences worldwide. Lisa strives to deliver content that is entertaining, educational, and inspires audiences to be more empathetic to the human experience. Currently, Vangellow is VP of Production and Development for Arsenal Film.

Bryan Wuest: FTV 84A Overview of Contemporary Movie Industry
Wuest holds a PhD in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. He researches and teaches film analysis, queer media, digital media, media industry studies, genre, media and politics, and film history, and his work has appeared in Film History, Journal of Film and Video, and the edited collection Queer Youth and Media Cultures.

Admission
Admission to the program is by instructor consent only. At registration, applicants will be prompted brief essay questions that will determine their suitability for each track. As space is limited, early registration is highly recommended. This track is open to current undergraduate students only (rising junior and above). For students holding completed bachelor's degrees, UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television offers a 10-week Professional Program in Producing.

Grades and Transcripts
Program participants will earn units of credit on a letter-grading basis and will be recorded on an official University of California transcript. Please note that official transcripts are not automatically sent to students. To request a transcript, please contact the UCLA Registrar’s Office.
Financial Aid
